Meet Bioseal — Where Biology
Becomes Infrastructure

Bioseal is not a coating. It is not a patch. It is a living, self-regulating material system embedded directly within the mortar matrix — engineered to restore structural integrity autonomously and to actively remove CO₂ from the atmosphere throughout its operational life.

Bioseal Cement Mortar

A ready-to-mix self-healing structural mortar for external applications. Drop-in compatible with existing construction workflows — no special equipment required.

  • External walls, columns, beams and foundations
  • Infrastructure: bridges, tunnels, marine structures
  • High-humidity and coastal environments

How Bioseal Works: The Science, Simply Explained

Moisture Triggers Activation

When micro-fractures develop in the cured matrix, moisture penetrates the fissure pathways. This water acts as the biological trigger — awakening dormant bacterial spores safely embedded within the mortar since the time of mixing.

Spore Germination & Metabolic Cascade

The revived bacteria begin metabolising engineered calcium lactate compounds embedded in the Bioseal formulation. This metabolic process initiates a critical precipitation reaction that no conventional cement can replicate.

MICP: Mineralisation from Within

Microbiologically Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP) occurs autonomously inside the crack cavity. The bacteria synthesise crystalline calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) which nucleates and grows to physically bridge and seal the fracture from its interior outward. No human intervention required.

Active CO₂ Sequestration

Throughout the curing phase and each subsequent self-repair cycle, Bioseal's specialised mortar chemistry facilitates the permanent capture of atmospheric carbon dioxide. CO₂ is mineralised into stable, inert carbonate compounds — locking greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere indefinitely.

The Cycle Repeats. The Structure Endures.

The spores remain viable for decades. Should new micro-fractures develop at any point in the structure's lifespan, the healing cycle reinitiates autonomously — providing continuous, maintenance-free protection that no conventional material can offer.

A Material That Outperforms
On Every Dimension

Bioseal does not ask you to choose between structural excellence and environmental responsibility. It delivers both — simultaneously, autonomously, and at scale.

Autonomous Crack Arrest

Bioseal detects and seals micro-fractures at their inception, stopping crack propagation before it escalates into structural compromise. The calcite seal achieves compressive strengths comparable to the surrounding cement matrix.

Corrosion Shield for Rebar

By sealing fractures autonomously, Bioseal continuously blocks water and chloride ion ingress — protecting embedded steel reinforcement from the leading cause of structural failure in reinforced concrete worldwide.

3× Extended Service Life

Structures built with Bioseal demonstrate dramatically extended design service lives. Independent modelling projects a 3× improvement in effective service life over conventional cement mortar under equivalent exposure conditions.

Drop-In Compatibility

Bioseal is a ready-to-mix product. It integrates seamlessly into existing construction workflows, batching plants, and mixing protocols — requiring zero changes to site equipment or engineering specifications.
